Quality children’s picture book biographies are unique in that they capture the essence of the life and accomplishments of a person without getting overly bogged down with details.
The best of these biographies ignight admiration and curiosity in young readers – raising questions and interest that lead to further study of the person presented in the pages.
And, in my opinion, “perfect” biographies go even a step further. They’re artistically appealing with creative writing and illustrations.
The list below is a collection of picture biographies we’ve explored in our homeschooling this fall.
They’re listed in the order of my childrens’ preference, which, interestingly nearly coincides with my own evaluation of these texts with one caveat:
Attention span and length of the books causes some of my faves to move further down the list than I agree with.
Papa’s Mechanical Fish will probably forever be our favorite though!
